SSR watches back in with Terry. Terry is acting oddly as if he has been friends with SSR for a very long time. Kid Mercury meets SSR as he comes out of the smuggler hole and hands him his weapons.
The five by five has seen better days, but doesn’t appear to have any permanent damage. Slider foot is firmly pressed up against the unconscious Ivan and talking to Matty. Jana has been moved from the floor to a more comfortable seat at one of the booths. She is unconscious, but her injuries don’t look life threatening.
Terry in between talking about his wife and looking down at the unconscious Russians tells the group what happened to him. Last month, the Vory started closing down small smuggler havens that refuse to pay them for protection. These closures have been brutal to say the least. Terry witnessed the Vory in action and was informed that on his next run, he would turn over all the goods to the Vory. On that ill-fated run, he was nervous and running hard. Terry attracted the attention of the UCAS Border Patrol and rather than get caught, ditched his goods and went into hiding. Terry pleaded with the runners to let him go home and check in with his wife. He admits that she thinks he is a traveling salesman. He does his best to clean himself up after being roughed up a little by the Vory. Discretely Slider slides some mana energy into Terry’s clothes improving on their look and repairing some minor damage.
Off to the side the runners discuss what they are going to do next. Mr. Rage informs everyone that he has a line on who stole the dropped cargo and even has a guess at a location of where the stuff might be. The group decides to collect the lost cargo to improve Terry’s chances of living through these troubles and with the hope of getting a bonus from the Don. Slider calls Miguel and makes arrangements to meet with the Don. A 15 to 20 minutes later a limo pulls up and he heads off to meet. The rest of the group agrees to let Terry check in with his wife.
Everyone piles into SSR Mercury Comet and head off to the Wyatt residence. On the way SSR takes a nap and Terry talks to Kid Mercury and Mr. Rage nervously about his wife and family.
Pulling up to the house, you notice a sleek, black European sedan in the driveway. The luxury car definitely feels out of place in the lower-middle class neighborhood squeezed between Gateway and the Warrens. Upon seeing the limo Terry goes pale and says that he is not going in, but asks the runners to check on his family.
Mr. Rage agrees to go by himself. Approaching the run- down, but cared for house, he knock on the door. Sounds of conversation are barely audible, then the soft stepping of bare feet on hardwood.
He immediately recognize Wyatt’s wife from the picture. Wearing blue jeans and a flannel shirt, buttoned up but untucked, she has the appearance of a woman stopped in the middle of a lazy day at home. Wisps of blonde hair that never quite stay where she wants them, float around the edge of Carole’s face—an almost angelic halo resting on dark blue eyes. “Can I help you?”
The scent of sugar cookies wafts through the open door.
More to come shortly when I get more time.
