Seattle, Rain filled late afternoon
Grey Knight gets an odd call from a child friend. He hadn’t heard from Stephen, who now goes by the name of Kid Mercury. The two catch up and Kid Mercury having heard about Grey’s lost love was calling to check up on him. Kid Mercury invites his friend to come stay in Denver for a bit and tells him the running down here is rockin. This is all under the guise of needing his help taking over his matrix overwatch duties while he and his band goes on tour. He has already made all the arrangements. As it turns out Kid Mercury confesses that he has become someone what of a bad ass hacker since they where kids. Which is funny for Grey because he doesn’t remember a time when he wasn’t helping his friend make technology work. This and the fact that his friend seemed to be lying in a hospital bed only hit him several minutes after he got off the call and started packing. After all he had a plane to catch in an hour.
Denver, hot dry late afternoon
SSR, Slider, Mona Lizza, and Mr. Rage are having a nice quiet day. It is a few days after their latest exploits with DocWagon and the group is laying low and keeping it easy. Bills have been paid and life in the shadows continue.
Laying low doesn’t mean you can get work done however. Slider, SSR, Mr. Rage call in some favors from the Casquilho family. Meanwhile Mona goes to her own family and reaches out to them to learn a bit more about shadowing and sneaking around.
Grey’s Trip to Denver
Grey quickly discovers that Kid Mercury probably didn’t pay for any of his connecting flights as he seems to be on some of the strangest connections possible. Traveling in first class for one connection; a cargo vessel the second, and his third stop a very uncomfortable coach. Making him extremely glad when he touches down in Denver and finds a Ork taxi driver signaling him down and taking his bags. It is a bit disconcerting for a second when the driver turns his chair around to look at Grey just as the car starts pulling out into traffic a horn a blazing. The Taxi driver introduces himself as a taxi and a guide and begins telling Grey all about the Denver area. Grey tries to listen but quickly loses interest exhausted as he is.
Looking for work and something a bit different…
With new identities ordered and some skills practiced about the middle of the week the group begins putting out feelers for more work. While Mr. Rage finds himself at some kind of underground fight arena that seems to have few rules and a large beating and betting area. After watching a couple of quick fights he decides to sign up to fight and calls his associates to watch and bask in his glory. SSR, Slider, and Mona Lizza head that way.
Tour guides and changes of direction…
About half way into the tour and for Grey half way into a snooze the driver pipes up louder than he has been talking. “Well your in for a treat… your sponsor wants me to take you to a special place.” He spins around in his seat and suddenly all the taxi doors lock and metal covers start working their way up and into place to protect the windows. Only little slits allow Grey to see outside.
Arriving at the arena
The area is a run down abandoned warehouse district in a very bad section of the Aurora Barrens. SSR having driven as far in as he feels comfortable leave his vehicle and sends it piloting program off back to his home. The three continue on foot allowing their commlinks to guide them. The matrix grid here is functional, but barely lives up to the standards of the public grid. They still find there way almost getting run over by a taxi or was that a tank? which passes him and stops in front of their destination.
The fight arena is in an abandoned warehouse that has had a large metal cage built into the center and surrounded by metal and wood bleachers.
More coming soon…
