Sitting in SSR sedan the group discusses their next move. Grey Knight goes to work trying to location contact information for one Donna Westmore. It takes him a couple of minutes but he reports that one Donna Westmore, a researcher for Federated Boeing, who recently lost her only child— Catherine Westmore—in a botched kidnapping attempt is currently on personal leave. He keeps digging and eventually tracks down a comm id. After setting up some dummy relays so the call can’t be tracked Slider makes the call.
Instead of getting Donna a man’s gruff voice answers and is very short. Slider asking to speak with Donna is told the only way that is going to happen is in person, without guns, in one hour at Regency Tech Center. The Regency Tech Center, a hotel, in the heart of the Denver Tech Center district of the C.A.S. Sector. Other directions followed but by then Slider had stopped listening and the connection went dead.
Slider has Grey whip up another connection and calls again. Demanding to talk to Donna over the commlink or it isn’t happening. To which the voice on the other end responds. In person or it doesn’t happen and disconnects again. Hoping they come to their senses Grey whips up a relay for Donna to call and leave them a message without it going directly to any of the team.
Next Slider calls Klub Karma and gets a hostess. He asks to speak to Lin Yao. He is forwarded to a voice mail account and leaves a quick message basically stating who he is and that he needs to talk to her about someone on the premises.
Not immediately hearing back from either person the group goes over and decides to case the club. The front entrance has three bouncers and a long line around the corner of people attempting to get in. Most look asian and dressed up for clubbing. The rain and cold temperatures not dimensioning their mood, but messing with their look.
As Slider works some magic to improve his and Mona’s look to fit in. SSR makes his way to the back entrance and steps into the shadows to observe. He does see some obvious employees entering the club and notices that a bouncer opens the door from inside and lets them in. When the door is closed he also notices a maglock on the door. Grey Knight at SSR’s request stays in the car and begins searching for an image to go with the Dragon (Kazuya Hotomi).
Slider and Mona Lizza all dressed up by pass the line. The two are obviously not of asian decent and begin getting hackled by the line as they move forward. The two brush this off at first until Mona’s femininity is challenged which Slider just wont take. The bouncer comes down the steps to intercept Slider and Mona as the crowd in line begins chanting something in Chinese.
Slider approaches the bouncer and asks to see Lin Yao. At first the bouncer speaks to them loudly also in Chinese and eventually switches to English. He basically points for the two of them to go to the end of the line and says the same. He then says something in Chinese and points in the same fashion and the line cheers.
Hoping to quiet the crowd and impress everyone to get entry the dragon shaman summons a fire spirit into existence. The bouncer that had been talking to him seems to be the only one to notice as Slider brings the elemental into existence and pulls a stun baton off his belt and goes to hopefully interrupt whatever the well dress “chite” was attempting to do.
Mona Lizza’s muscular leg shot up and blocked the baton before it could connect in a raw and amazing show of her speed and flexibility. The bouncer draws back the baton in staring at Mona with a mix of confusion and awe as she tells him to drop it. The bouncer points out and says, “Leave, we won’t serve you.”
His attention is pulled off of Mona as a tornado of fire comes to life from Sliders hand. The tornado flys over the crowd and turns into a phoenix before appearing to vanishing back into Sliders hand. Slider pronounces loudly, “We will show you more respect than you are showing us. Lin Yao, would have wanted to see us. Lets go.” As he is leaving Slider uses a little bit of magic to send his Business card to fly over and stop floating in mid air in front of the bouncer. After stepping back and hesitating obviously waiting for it to explode or something he scans it with a mechanical wand off his belt and slips the card into his pocket with an odd look on his face as he looks out at the leaving Shaman.
The team takes on look out positions as Grey Knight continues his digital searching and Slider tries to rest from the strain of his casting. Hours pass with SSR and Mona watching both entrances and nothing really exciting happens. Grey continues searching, perhaps he really is searching the entire Matrix. Slider unable to get comfortable decides to leave while Mona and slider continue their look out. As Klub Karma closes down SSR does notice a familiar face leaving. One An Peng, the troll mage and member of the Golden Triangle Triad.
It is roughly 4am and the area around the club is eerie quiet without the drums and base beats. The lower levels of the club have gone dark. Only small faint lights shine on the two entrances. Light can also be seen from the top of the club’s old warehouse building. It seems the club has more than one floor. SSR and Mona discuss their next move while Slider sleeps soundly with dreams of large trolls models that all look like Madge are walking a runway at his latest fashion show.
Grey Knight finally jacks out and starts rubbing his eyes. “Found him.” He says to no one as he finds himself hungry and alone inside a car in what looks like an underground parking deck.
